As much as we’d like to deny it, the internet and remaining connected play pivotal roles in our lives, even when we’re taking a break from daily schedule. Remaining online while out at sea can pose many challenges but, at the very least, at Royal Caribbean the one we strove to eliminate the complexity of connecting for our guests.
By the time I arrived at Royal, the Captive Portal was already deployed in a number ships in the fleet. People were already purchasing and activating their internet packages in droves, planning their vacations with the app on board. Still, guests had some hurdles with getting to what they wanted and it was up to us to address these pain points and make a product that was as simple as possible to use regardless of the guest’s tech savviness.
